It sure would be nice to have real numbers, even if they're only approximate! If you thermal coat the heat shield silver or better yet-white that will be your best "bang for the buck". Exhaust gas temperature is over degrees when it exits the head. Here is my intake painted with silver brake paint from a spray can. This is about 7 years after I painted it and about 10, miles later.

Whatever you end up doing, now would be the time to mill out around the Ports and Throttle Body if it's EFI to increase air flow Waste of time and money IMHO. FastWoman 52 Posted September 17, Posted September 17, edited. Thanks for all your suggestions, guys! Wow, there are a lot of useful products out there! Mike, how long did it take for you to polish out your intake manifold prior to ceramic coating?
I wonder how it would look on rough aluminum It would be nice to clean up the valve cover and do it in the same finish. Sounds interesting. Can that be done on rough metal? Edited September 17, by FastWoman.

And feed the cats etc etc lol Powder withstands temperatures very well. You can do cam covers, fuel rail, intakes, water pump, etc. I shop for the powders on Prismatic Powders. If you are not familiar with coating them yourself then take powder of your choice to a powdercoat place. You will notice on the stock intake manifolds there are a lot of sharp edges and they can be smoothed down prior to the powder process.
Also, you can polish, but it takes a LOT of patience, beer, time, understanding from the woman, sacrifice, and you must be a loner at heart to follow through. I actually just polished the cam covers on my E type. Attached are some photos. Of course I have to make a production out of everything so I had to wear my disco shoes and take out the disco ball to stay inspired through the process. Well you remember my silver suit in one of my prior posts lol.
I forget which one now. Please support Jag-lovers! Intake manifold painting? And do I have to mask the injector bores, etc? Cheers, Malc.

Just run it plain. Spruce it up with batteries, painted valve cover, spark plug wires, etc. Use VHT high temp or alternatively just use there high temp clear only and it will look minty fresh long time. VHT paint.
